Under 15s, Silver Medal at Romei Memorial

The XIV Memorial Fulvio Romei in San Giovanni Valdarno for the Under 15 Eccellenza was held this weekend. After a winning 57 – 50  start against the home team, Pallacanestro Galli, and a hard-fought win against Sam Roma by a score of 56 – 42,  Luca Robledo’s Mens Sana ceded 76-75 in overtime in the finals to San Lazzaro (title finalists last season).

Coach Robledo commented, “It’s the first test of the season after three weeks of training. The team improved over the course of the tournament, playing up through the last ball against the vice Italian champions. You can already tell the cohesion and the will to fight are already characteristic of this group, who is surely headed for a promising season.”

The young Mensanites are at the IV Memorial Lorenzo Guarnieri in Florence this coming weekend, as they continue preparing for their championship debut.
