Montepaschi Cedes to Bayern

Montepaschi falls 89-79 at Audi Dome in Munich to debuting team Bayern. Having trailed by a depth of twenty points, Siena didn’t give in and came up to by down by only 9 just a few second for the end of the game. Unfortunately, the green-and-whites weren’t able to complete the comeback.
The game begins in a balanced way with Montepaschi ahead at mid first quarter thanks to a three point play from Carter (9-11). Hunter widens the gap and Hackett triples for a 7 point lead (9-16). Bryant and Delaney makes a break that puts Bayern ahead (17-16 at 2’). Ortner ties the score (18-18). Troutman puts his team back on top before Viggiano ties it again from the line. Taylor sinks a shot to end the first quarter 22-20 for the home team.
The first part of the second quarter, Siena stays in the game but, just two minutes from the halftime, Bayern takes a 10 point lead (36-26). Montepaschi reacts through Rochestie, but the Germans do a good job of keeping the green-and-whites at a distance. The two teams head into the half 46-33.
Bayern gets up by 17 at the start of the third (51-35) against a Montepaschi that creeks out points but remains at a double figure disadvantage (-11 at 5’15”, 55-44). Djedovic pushes Siena back even further with a triple. Led by Benzing, Bayern is up by 19 with 1’20” until the third buzzer (68-49). The scoreboard reads 70-52 at the end of the third quarter.
Munich solidly controls the game (80-61 at mid quarter), but Montepaschi doesn’t give up and fights for every ball. At 3’28”, Rochestie triples to trail by 13 (80-67). Bayern contains Montepaschi’s attacks from the line (85-73). The Germans play a time game. Rochestie scores to trail by 9, but Delaney virtually ends the game. Siena is not able to complete the comeback and cedes to Bayern Munich 89-79.
