This Supercup is Full of Motivation
8 October 2013 Press Release
It’s Italian Supercup eve in casa Montepaschi and, after a positive pre-season in terms of results and group growth, things get real starting tonight. Montepaschi’s coach, Marco Crespi, knows it after Coppa Italia and national title wins last season. He wants to start back up again with the Supercup that slipped away from the green-and-whites twelve months ago in Rimini against Cantù. “It’s a Supercup even for a new group of young players, many of whom have never played a finals, so there’s a lot of motivation, emotion and curiosity,” Coach Crespi comments. “During the pre-season, we met up with Varese two times, with absences on one side or the other. Sure, we got an impression of the two teams, but tonight’s game will have few things in common with those.” What are the keys to the match? “As for us, the team wants to immediately amaze, but without fear or pressure, from a technical standpoint as well. We want to attack on offense and be really aggressive on the ball on defense. Varese has experience and players with well-defined characteristics. Our goal is to respect each of their characteristics. We’re going to try to put it into high gear in terms of mental freshness and physical vigor. This Mens Sana is starting back up at zero. Siena fans know how to help the team; they’ve done it many times and they’ll do it again tonight.”
