Team Player? His Name Is Moss 14/03/2011

AN EVENINGof fun and “champagne” basketball, though, at times first half, Pianigiani’s face seemed anything but amused. The All Star Game took place yesterday in Milan with good representation from Montepaschi. Simone Pianigiani and Pietro Aradori on one side, David Moss on the other. In truth, there were supposed to be different stars:  Bo McCalebb, the most voted for before getting injured, and Rimantas Kaukenas, called to Peterson’s All Stars before ceding his place to Moss because of a knee operation. There were plenty of stars that evening in Milan in front of a jam packed Forum like it was when the New York Knicks challenged Armani Jeans. Aradori took time to pose for a classic picture with Lollo d'Ercole, one of many Sienese athletes on loan in the A Series and the Lega-2.  And Aradori was the first to head on court in the three point shot competition qualifications:  a good peformance onf 42 points but not enough to take Datome (51) who came in second during the halftime challenge against Nicholas Mazzarino, rightfully the best in the All Star Game in addition to the A Series. Then, there was the actual game. Pietro is Pianigiani’s first sub after five minutes, and he picks up where he left off. And Moss takes on the role of team player even when he doesn’t know any of his teammates. Peterson throws him in, he takes a stand low post to help out Dasic. Pianigiani calls time out and it kind of takes you back seeing the All Star team’s bench with Moss seated in front of Peterson, carefully listening to his “coach’s” words. Then he really makes his presence known with 5 heavy points at the end. Pietro Colnago interviews Hugo Sconochini, who’d like to see the two teams stop defending and let it all come down to offense. The Sky provokes the Argentinean athlete by saying, “You go tell Pianigiani.” Hugo responds, “What can I say, it’s a matter of mentality.”
