Siena continues their run at the start of the second to lead by 3 (19-22). Ofoegbu ends the break with two free throws, but Siena gets a response from Ortner. Maccabi keeps breathing down the green-and-whites’ neck, but Siena holds strong and leads 25-28 at 4′. Israel ties it up just after mid quarter(28-28), but Hunter puts his team on top, followed by Viggiano with a triple for 28-33 at 3’. Maccabi immediately responds through Smith, but Hunter knocks down the three on the other side. The home team gets four points in a row to trail by 2. Montepaschi gets points from Udom. The two teams head into halftime 34-38.
Maccabi gets back on top at the start of the third with an 8-0 break (42-38). Haynes ends the home team’s run with a triple,. but Smith responds immediately with a lay up. Mens Sana’s point guard brings Montepaschi up to trail by one point (44-43 after 3’). Maccabi makes another break for a 12 point lead (55-43 at 2’25”). Cournooh ends the run, but Ofoegbu strikes with a triple. Hunter adds points for Montepaschi and Maccabi responds right away. Third quarter ends 61-47.
The home team widens the gap and, at mid quarter, it’s a 20 point game (75-54). Siena tries to mend the tear but isn’t able. The green-and-whites cede to Maccabi Haifa by a score of 86-66.
